Corrective Maintenance Management

Corrective Maintenance addresses the necessary actions to correct a failure or defect that has occurred in equipment, machinery, or a system. Unlike Preventive Maintenance, which aims to prevent problems before they occur, Corrective Maintenance responds to unforeseen situations and addresses immediate repair needs.

When a failure or breakdown is detected, Corrective Maintenance is implemented to restore the normal operation of the equipment and minimize downtime. This type of maintenance can be classified into two categories:

  1. Unplanned Corrective Maintenance: Carried out reactively in response to an unforeseen failure that disrupts normal operations. This type of maintenance tends to be urgent and aims to quickly restore equipment functionality.

  2. Planned Corrective Maintenance: Although also a response to a failure, this type of maintenance is scheduled in a controlled manner during planned downtime periods. It is used when problems are identified that do not immediately affect performance but need to be addressed to prevent major damage in the future.
